3rd IBSA World Chess Championship

The 3rd IBSA World Chess Championship took place in the city of Petrovac – Montenegro.
36 athletes from 13 countries fought over 9 rounds for the first 3 places.
After high-quality and fair-play games, three athletes finished the tournament with the same number of points, the tie-breaking being done according to the Bucholtz system.
The title of World Champion was obtained by the athlete Zambo Zoltan Istvan (Hungary), the silver medal by Kimsanboyev Axadxon (Uzbekistan) and the third step of the podium was occupied by the representative of the hosts, Nikac Predrag.
The women’s category was also awarded: 1st place – Palacios Figueroa Barbara (Venezuela), 2nd place – Vilics Hanna (Hungary) and 3rd place – Sanchez Ruiz Piedad (Spain).
