Date: December 4, 2023

Category: Judo

Day 1 in the 2023 IBSA Judo Grand Prix Tokyo, Japan, was dedicated to the men’s and women’s lightweight categories on the three tatamis of the Tokyo Metropolitan Gimnasium.

Surprise in the men’s J1 -60kg for the Uruguayan Henry Borges, bronze medal in the Para Pan American Games – Santiago 2023 two weeks ago, playing a tremendous judo in the birthplace of the sport, defeating in the final the Algerian Abdelkader Bouamer. An important victory for the South American judoka and his goal on the Road to Paris 2024.

The Romanian Alex Bologa (J1 -73kg), leader of the World and Paralympic rankings, continues to pave his way through the next Paralympic Games, collecting gold medals throughout the four corners of the globe.

In the J2 -73kg category, the Japanese Yujiro Seto won a silver medal in the 2023 IBSA Judo Asian Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, in late April this year.

Mentioning the Asian Championships, the final of the women’s J2 -57kg category at this Tokyo Grand Prix was exactly the same. This time, the Uzbek Kumushkhon Khodjaeva defeated the Kazakh Dayana Fedossova, gold medal in Astana.

Mr. Eigo Matsuzaki, IBSA’s Treasurer, was present at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gimnasium and participated in the medal ceremonies.
