Judo: Brazil dominance in the Grand Prix Portugal

The Brazilian judokas took the best out of the 2023 IBSA Judo Grand Prix Portugal that took place during the last two days at the Complexo Municipal dos Desportos in Almada.

There were 15 medals in total (five on the first day and ten on the second), with three of gold, seven of silver, and five of bronze.The surprise on the Brazilian team was Wilians Araújo, world champion in Baku (J1 +90kg), who, on the way to the final, was defeated by the gold medalist, the Frenchman Romuald Raboteur.

With world champion Cyril Jonard (FRA) absent, the Brazilian squad took gold and silver in the J1-90kg category.Carolina Costa (J2 + 70 kg) of Italy successfully defended her world champion title and won gold in Almada, the first competition since the World Championships in Baku in November.

The next competition on the Road to Paris will be held in Alexandria, between March 4 and 5, for the 2023 IBSA Judo Grand Prix Egypt.
