IBSA Judo announces 2022 Grand Prix
Date: January 13, 2022
Category: Judo
The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Judo has announced the dates and locations for three Grand Prix for 2022.
As well as the return of high-level competition, all events will offer the chance for classification under the new system for the sport, which came into effect on 1 January. Entries for the first opportunity – the Egyptian Pyramids International Judo Championships in Alexandria, Egypt – have now closed due to high demand.
Antalya, Turkey, will host the opening Grand Prix of 2022 from 23-25 April. Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan, will follow from 28-29 May. On 2-3 July, Sao Paulo, Brazil will host the third edition.
The trio of Grand Prix will see judoka compete at this level for the first time since the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, as they embark on their road to Paris 2024.
Teams are reminded that no judoka will be offered a classification slot without submitting the new Medical Diagnostics Form six weeks before the first day of classification, without exception. The IBSA Judo Medical Diagnostics form can be downloaded by clicking here.
