Rio 2016 blind football draw set for April 25th

The IBSA Football Committee has confirmed the date and venue for the draw for the Football 5-a-side tournament at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

The draw will take place in Rio de Janeiro on Monday April 25th from 10:00 to 11:00 local time. It will be conducted by IBSA Football Committee Chairman Ulrich Pfisterer and Rio 2016 Organising Committee staff at the Rio 2016 HQ.

Hosts Brazil, Argentina, China, Iran, Morocco, Mexico, Russia and Turkey will be split in two groups of four teams for the first stage of the competition. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals, with the bottom two teams in each group playing for 5th-8th place.

All eight countries in the tournament have been invited to attend the draw at their own expense.

The IBSA Football Committee is working with Rio 2016 to secure live streaming of the draw, although at this stage it cannot be confirmed. The draw will be recorded and made available on internet soon after it is completed.
