January 2017 IBSA Goalball World Ranking Released

Date: February 12, 2017

Category: Goalball

There have been no qualified ranking tournaments held around the world to date this year (2017) so the only movement in the rankings will be from the shift in weightings due to the age of games played.

The top ten women’s teams have remained thwe same since the end of last year (Brazil, China, Turkey, USA, Japan, Russia, Canada, Israel, Germany and Australia).  It’s a similar story in the men’s division although Czech Republic has almost swapped places with Finland (Brazil, Lithuania, China, Turkey, USA, Ukraine, Sweden, Czech Republic, Iran and Slovenia).

There aren’t many qualified tournaments on the horizon either so the rankings will continue to remain with very few variances.  The organisers of the Middle European Goalball League, which recommenced last week after last year’s absence, have asked that the tournament be counted to the rankings.  The Sub-Committee will consider if we include MEGL in the Rankings during our meeting this week.
