IBSA sports and Man Com meet in Romania

Representatives from IBSA sports gathered in Cluj, Romania, last weekend, for meetings with the IBSA Management Committee.

Following the successful meeting of the Management Committee on Thursday, the sports reps and Man Com members held a two-day gathering to discuss a range of topics related to sports for the blind and partially sighted.

Among the issues on the agenda were the events structure and four-year calendar for each sport, including a discussion on our showcase event, the IBSA World Games.

Sports reps also received an update from the IBSA Sports Director on recent developments within the disability sport movement,and the IBSA Vice-President provided inf​ormation on new financial and budgeting arrangements in IBSA to ensure the most profitable and efficient use of IBSA funds.

Also on the agenda for the meeting were licensing and sports entries via the IBSA Sports Administration System (ISAS) and sight classification. All the sports gave a report on recent activities, developments and future plans.

IBSA’s three Paralympic sports – Football Five-a-Side, Goalball and Judo – held additional meetings with Man Com members to go through plans and arrangements for their competitions at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games next summer.

The gathering was arranged by Sally Wood-Lamont, President of the Romanian Paralympic Committee and IBSA Europe Chair.
