Rio 2016 Paralympic Games – important note for all countries participating in Football Five-a-Side

In accordance with the IPC zero classification policy for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, all athletes participating in the Football Five-a-Side competition must hold an international classification prior to the event.

All athletes must be classified at international level before the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games with a ‘Confirmed’ sport class status or a ‘Review’ sport class status with a review date after 31 December 2016. Athletes who do not meet these criteria will be ineligible to compete.

The IBSA Football Committee will offer classification opportunities for new players or players who do not meet these requirements. Further information on opportunities for players to be classified will be released shortly. 

All athletes must also hold a valid IBSA license for 2016. Players without a license will not be eligible to compete.
