Goalball Europeans C – heading for finals

Date: September 8, 2013

Category: Goalball

Day 3 at the 2013 IBSA Goalball European Championships Men C was a day where the stronger teams dominated and the results followed current form.

On Thursday and Friday we had become accustomed to comebacks and tight thrillers but this was not the case today. Today the stronger teams showed what they are made of as they fight for the top four positions.

At the end of the round robin, the top four teams will play in the semifinals. 1st will take on 4th and 2nd and 3rd will battle it out. The two winners the semifinals will play off for 1st place but are also guaranteed promotion to European B division. The losers will face each other for third place and that final ticket to Europeans B next year. The full table can be found below.

Host nation, Great Britain, have built on all the experience that they gained in London last year and are in a commanding position at the top of the leader board. Two of the nations that dropped from B division last year, Italy and Russia, are well on their way to returning to the B division. Fourth place is still not confirmed with a couple of nations still in the running. However nothing is guaranteed until all matches have been played. IBSA Goalball wishes the best to all teams on the remaining day of competition.
