Goalball calendar filling up

Date: September 12, 2014

Category: Goalball

Over 2015 there will be seven major goalball championships. This leads to many nations wishing to attend prechampionship warm up tournaments and also many nations willing to host a friendly tournament.

Below please see a list of tournaments that have been recently added to the IBSA Goalball calendar. Please click on the tournament title to view the full calendar item and any available supporting documents for that particular tournament.

  • 2014 IBSA Goalball European Championships Men & Women B – This is not a new item on the calendar to say the least but there was a major change to the item recently. The tournament was originally planned to be hosted in Eger. Instead the tournament has been moved to the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
  • 1st Alanya Goalball Tournament – Goalball Turkey is organizing this tournament open to both male and female national teams. It will take place on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. Following the success of the Turkish male and female teams over recent years, goalball continues to grow in popularity in Turkey and this is another chance to support that growth.
  • FEDC International Goalball Tournament for male and female – Often the goalball calendar is full of tournaments for men but only a few for female teams so we are always happy when nations are organizing tournaments for both. However, the Spanish have been organizing this tournament for a long time and have always supported the female competition so we are happy to see it once again back on our calendar.
  • Australasian Plate Championship – Here is one for not only your elite national teams but also for the youth boys and girls teams. It may be far away but it is certainly worth the travel. The Aussies will always welcome any visitors with their warm friendly attitudes and will do their best to ensure you have a great stay.
  • 4th Pajulahti Games – We move from one end of the world in the middle of summer to another tournament on the other side of the world in the middle of winter. The Finns will once again be hosting the Pajulahti Games. This tournament is also open to both male and female national teams.
  • Malmö Open – This tournament will be taking place directly after the 2015 IBSA Goalball European Championships Men C. It will also be part of the multi sport festival that is the Malmö Open which is attended by around 2000 athletes. This tournament has two classes of competition, elite and master. Club teams and mixed teams are also welcome to participate.
  • El Eman International Goalball Tournament – It is exciting to see more and more goalball tournaments being organized by African nations and something that should be supported by all fans of goalball. Club and national male teams have been invited to participate in this tournament in an area of Egypt that has a lot of experience in organizing international sporting events.
  • Malmö Lady and Men InterCup – If you are on to a good thing then there is no need to stop and that is the case with the Malmö InterCups. This tournament is known for attracting the top teams and certainly on the female side. All the medalists from the recent 2014 IBSA Goalball World Championships attended the female division last year.

Beyond this lot of events there are many other events on the calendar that either has been on the calendar for a while or the specific details have not been shared yet. To view the full IBSA Goalball calendar please click here.
