Annual Statistics
IBSA has placed a special focus on testing in recent years, both in and out of competition.
As a result the scale of testing has nearly trebled across all the sports IBSA is responsible for. In 2017 IBSA carried out 59 in competition tests, increasing to 109 in 2018 (including 94 in competition). In 2019, 165 tests were carried out, including 153 in competitions. In fact, all IBSA sanctioned and approved events were subject to doping controls in 2019.
Another 18 in competition tests were performed at IBSA events for results management. The range of tests carried out has also been diversified. Athletes can now be required to give blood samples as well as urine. In 2019, six IBSA sports were tested in and/or out of competition.
