CAS upholds IPC decision on Russian NPC

Date: August 23, 2016

Category: Football

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected an appeal by the NPC of Russia regarding its suspension by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

The decision means that Russian athletes will not be entitled to participate at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games which open on September 7th.

The CAS decision has an impact on the three IBSA-governed sports on the Paralympic programme – Football 5-a-side, Goalball and Judo – as Russian athletes had qualified to compete in all three.

IBSA is working with the International Paralympic Committee in order to reallocate the slots in its three sports. Further information will be made public shortly.
